Phantom sketchbooks.

So, it's funny how you can completely forget you've drawn something, and then find a sketchbook that it is in, and remember. here are anumber of things that I've meant to scan over the past few months, but ended up caught in a book I'd misplaced. Some of them are form nearly a year ago, filled into the back pages of an older sketchbook when I'd run out of one, but hadn't picked up another.

^ This was after watchcing Akira Kurosawa's Ran. Also playing with a brush pen.^

^ This is what i do during Faculty Meetings ^

^ Also this ^

^ This is going to be painted, I think. ^

^ And THIS is a wiggly beast. ^

So, I have been re-reading the Hobbit. Perhaps that is where all this elf-thinking has come from. Namely, that the elves of the Hobbit, are so differently described and written than in the Lord of the Rings. Check back soon, I've been busy.

Here's some retroactive scanning from when Jane and I watched Pocahotass 2. Unfortuatately it cuts out before her untimely and ultimately fatal respiratory illness. Way to go Disney. Not an A-day with the sketches, but not -too- shabby.

I've been reading a fair amount of Greek Mythology lately; also, the Character of the Week over at is "King Minos" so somewhere in between is where this sketch germinated. I'm not really interested in posting it over there but there's -some- merit in putting it up here, all the same. This is by no means finished, and it may never reach that state, but-- this is what a sketch blog is for...right?

Remote Scanning Operation.

So, here are a couple of more recent scans. I've erected a remote scanning facility on my parents' computer. It will have to do until I get things fixed with mine.

After a long stretch of Not updating this, I'm going to resolve to be better about it. I've been working over a few things, that I can't yet post, but also some things I can. My PC, the computer that is my primary workhorse, has died, and is in the process of being Frankensteined back together. That hat fellow there is a product of my half paying attention to Marie Antoinette a few nights ago. I've yet to get my scanner to work on my mac, so i'm going to have to find an alternate situation. Curses to low-power USB ports. Not all USBs are created equal, apparently. News to me.

Here's a little job i just finished for a local Children's Museum. They're holding an auction of allegedly fabulous things, and what better to sell the idea than a fat lady with swirly hair?

MORE Sketchdump.

Here are some more pages.

Here's some of the stuff from the sketchbook I've just finished that I'm relatively happy with.

I need to work more.

Quick Paintings

After poking around and the work of the indomitable Craig Mullins, I decided to try using some random photographs as a ground for sketchy , half-hour to an hour type paintings. Here they are... they evolved as I went along without any sort of planning, or drawing underneath. Suffice it to say, I think my preoccupation with skulls is evident.

In the Beginning.

So at one point I started a Blog.... I think even on Blogspot. I have forgotten its address, and there was never really anything on it. This then, shall be my new foray into the blogging world, so enspirited am I by the burgeoning blogs of my compatriots. More to come later.... really.
